The lymphatic system is closely linked to the circulatory system in that it removes fluid from spaces between cells, filters it and returns it to the blood.  It also transports fats from the small intestine to the blood and produces special cells called lymphocytes which protect and defend the body against disease and infesctions.  During a massage treatment a technique known as Lymphatic drainage is used to:

  • Speed up the flow of lymph thus increasing the turnover of waste products.
  • Can work to reduce swelling caused by fluid pooling and menstruation.
  • It allows large particles in vessels to be removed quickly.
