The circulatory or cardio-vascular system is a circuit of tubes that carry blood pumped around the body by the heart to organs and cells around the body.  This systems allows the transport of oxygen, nutrients, hormones and enzymes through arteries to tissues and the removal of waste products through veins.  It is therefore important that a person maintains a healthy circulatory system.  As well as moderate exercise, massage can help to do this:

  • Flushes out metabolic waste from tissues.
  • Increases the efficiency of venous return.
  • Increases the speed of oxygen, nutrient transport to tissues.
  • Improves condition of tissues.
  • Thins blood.
  • May reduce high blood pressure.
